Psion Teklogix wins £1.4 million contract with Wilkinson

[ Thursday, 9th August 2007 ]

The UK retail giant Wilkinson has placed an order worth over £1.4 million with Psion Teklogix (UK) Ltd for a new order picking solution using voice technology.  The solution is set to go live by the end of October this year in advance of the Christmas rush.  The new technology will replace Wilkinson's existing paper-based system and is expected to deliver a return on investment within 10 months based on forecast increases in productivity alone.

Wilkinson will be implementing Psion Teklogix TekSpeech which was chosen as the interface with Wilkinson's existing AS400 and the company's warehouse management system which was developed in-house.  The order picking staff will be equipped with Workabout PRO Speech hand-held data collection terminals.

Heavey RF have been encouraging the use of voice technology in distribution warehouses in Ireland and several of the Irish retail giants such as Superquinn and Musgraves have already implemented this technology.
