Wednesday, October 15, 2008: Movianto Ireland, Pre Wholesale division of Cahill May Roberts, Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, has won a prestigious has national IT award for a voice enabled warehouse management system provided by Irish company Heavey RF. This is the third year running that a customer of Heavey RF has won an award for one of its solutions at the Inspired IT Awards. Previous winners included Bulmer’s and Boyne Valley Group.

Movianto won the Retail, Distribution and Logistics IT Award from a shortlist of eight entrants. The new system manages every warehouse function and has greatly boosted productivity and accuracy at the company’s three warehouses in Ireland.

Heavey RF developed all the software around the various warehouse applications employed by Movianto including: goods inwards, put-away, replenishment, order picking, order checking and dispatch as well as stock taking. 40 Vocollect Talkman T5 voice terminals and SR series headsets have been installed at three Movianto warehouse sites in Chapelizod and Rathcoole, Dublin and Castlerea in Northern Ireland.

The Heavey RF voice system automates a formerly manual process which included barcode scanning. All aspects of warehouse management are now automated including electronic orders which are automatically converted to speech and directed to the warehouse staff via a wireless network.

“Our stock value is considerable, so in our business, margins for error are practically non-existent, and our warehouse systems must be accurate, up-to-date and reliable,” said Liam Quinn, Movianto. “We needed a system that could be tailored to continually meet the demands of a customer base that includes 1100 pharmacy shops and 200 hospitals in Ireland. We are continually impressed with the new voice solution provided by Heavey RF.”
